As a Hallmark Retail Merchandiser, you will be utilized as an On Call-Floater. At the beginning of each day, you will want to start by going to the receiving area to see what shipments have arrived. The freight could be just a few boxes or as many as 10 or more, which is typical during busy seasonal times. Some of the boxes can weigh up to 50 lbs each. All product is then taken from the backroom to the Hallmark department to be put out on display.In the Hallmark Department, you will replenish, straighten, and track inventory of the every-day and seasonal greeting cards and specialty items which includes gift wrap, party supplies and other stationery items. You may also have to walk to areas outside of the card department to service other displays in the store.
This position will require you to lift boxes up to 50 lbs as well as stoop, squat, walk and stand for long periods of time. You will need to interact with store employees, store management and customers while in the store. You will have to complete your duties in an efficient and timely manner to stay within the budgeted hours for the store.
In this position, you will be working as an on call floater to help cover vacations and sick leave for existing merchandisers and to offer additional support when necessary. You will be providing support to 3 Giant Food stores and 9 Safeway stores with a central location of in the Temple Hills, MD area. Additional cities that you will be required to provide service to include: Upper Marlboro, District Heights, Landover Hills, Hyattsville, Fort Washington, and Oxon Hill. You must be available to work during the mornings and early afternoons. The days that you work could vary from week to week and you must have the flexibility to work any day of the week as needed. You will have the opportunity to be next in-line for a permanent account should one become available. You will also need to assist with installation activities which involves setting up or taking down of product and fixtures.
