Minimum Position Qualifications:



The Youth & Family Consultant supports families, kinship and/or foster families to raise their children well, through development of their potential, and live responsibly at home and in the community. The Youth & Family Consultant reports to the Family Support Program Director.



  1. BA/BS degree in social or behavioral sciences and three years of relevant work, education, or experience or MA preferred in social or behavioral sciences and one years relevant experience. Preference is given to applicants holding a Masters Degree.
  2. Experience in counseling, working with Therapeutic Foster Parents, and/ or treatment assessment/evaluation of youth and families.
  3. Experience working with adjudicated youth and at-risk youth preferred.
  4. Prior experience in case management and in supporting the development of youth through strength based /needs driven approach.
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop and promote comprehensive services within the community.
  6. Must provide an automobile as a condition of employment; valid driver’s license with a driving record that permits coverage under the agency’s corporate auto liability policy; and personal automobile liability insurance.
  7. Bilingual (English/Spanish)preferred.

Minimum Position Duties:



  • Establish and maintain a trusting relationship with youth and his/her family through frequent and regular home visits.
  • Actively participate in Person/Family Centered Planning and Service implementation processes.
  • Actively participate in the Public Safety Risk Management process.
  • Facilitate the development and connection with community resources to meet youth and family needs, i.e. behavioral supports, education, employment, mental health services, etc.
  • Monitor the quality of support received by youth and families, through an agreed upon process, and evaluate their progress.
  • Review and approve foster parent service documentation and billing forms to ensure they are completed and submitted to the Medical Billing Department.
  • Notify YFS Director of any deficiencies by foster parent(s) in adequately completing or submitting required documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Act as the liaison with service providers to assure youth and their families receive the necessary support to be empowered and successful.
  • Submit all written reports and documentation on time.
  • Maintains regular and punctual work attendance; this includes evening hours and on-call.
  • Participate actively with employee team and work groups; attends team meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
